Hi, I’m Emily Ridout, founder of the International School of AstroYoga. For more than sixteen years, I've been immersed in the study and practice of astrology, yoga, and the human body, and in understanding how these systems work together as one integrated map of consciousness.
AstroYoga is based on a simple but precise insight: Astrology is not abstract. It's embodied, precise, and incredibly practical.
Each zodiac sign corresponds to specific physical, psychological, and energetic functions. When you understand these connections, your yoga practice becomes a map for healing, timing, and transformation.
I first encountered this integration during my initial yoga teacher training at the University of Hyderabad in India, where it was taught that yoga and astrology were never meant to be separate systems. From there, I pursued extensive study in both Jyotish and Western astrology, gathered an analyzed birth data for years, and worked directly with the body as the testing ground for astrological theory.
This work eventually became the foundation of my professional practice (under my name) and this school. Alongside this research, I completed graduate studies in folklore, additional yoga teacher trainings, and professional astrological study before opening my own practice. Since then, I've taught internationally, authored AstroYoga for an Aquarian Age, and guided hundreds of students and clients through this work. My approach has been featured in Yoga Journal, Reader's Digest, Well + Good, and Women's Health.
My core belief is this: Your body and your astrology chart reflect the same cosmic order.
When you learn to read both, you gain practical clarity about your purpose, your timing, and your natural gifts. When you learn to do this skillfully, you can offer that clarity to others.

Explore the Luminaries in Astrology and Yoga, and learn the context of AstroYoga as it relates to the modern Aquarian Age
WEEK 2
THE ZODIAC, ELEMENTS, AND KOSHAS
Gain an energetic and aligned understanding of the zodiac, and dive into the elements and their relationship to the five koshas, plus how these align with yogic practice
WEEK 3
CHAKRAS AND PLANETS
Learn about the chakras and the planets, and understand how these systems interact with one another.
WEEK 4
PLANETARY ZODIAC CONNECTIONS AND MUDRA
Draw connections between planetary energies and the Zodiac; learn about hasta mudras and planetary connections, and begin to explore how these show up in astrology charts
WEEK 5
THE ASTROLOGICAL HOUSES AND DRAWING YOUR CHART
Deepen your understanding of the houses in astrology; draw your own chart; and continue to explore how these topics align in an astrology chart

THE ASTROLOGICAL ASPECTS AND HOW TO INTERPRET THEM

The lessons of this course are pre-recorded with slides and information available to download. In the course of your studies, you will receive support through email, phone, and zoom as appropriate. Each student's final project will be reviewed in detail by Emily.

"Emily’s teaching in the AstroYoga teacher training is so organized and understandable. Her descriptive way of speaking about Astrology Signs, Houses, Planets, Aspects, etc. has such beautiful nuances and her symbolism really resonates with me. I’m generally not one to go back and rewatch online class videos but this is a coursework series that I will watch again.
